Grilled 5 - 0 BOBBER
The 4555 spectators at
The Cooking Pot were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Jan Gristow was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
英伸 (Hidenobu) 上田 (Ueda) and
Bogdan Colceriu. The weather was sunny, which meant perfect conditions for technical players in both teams. However, it was also quite warm, which meant quick or physically strong players were drained faster and couldn't play their best game. Grilled's lineup was:
Law -
Panigrahi,
Webb -
敬龙 (Jinglong),
Kamel,
Mohammad Harun,
Chuan Yong,
Jaška -
Mottl,
Egan,
Velho.
The following players took the field for BOBBER:
Makwala -
Selefa,
Tladinyane,
Tórgarð -
Weitzmann,
Stojka,
Ruiz,
Engelen,
Pena -
Tshekiso,
Kgaswane.
The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Grilled Birds went for 2-5-3 while BOBBER FC 2006 has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled decided to play creatively at a magical (18) level. They were singing the praises of
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) 19 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Grilled.
Teo Chuan Yong increased Grilled's lead to 2 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. 34 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Bernie Egan broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Grilled. Grilled's
Bernie Egan had an excellent opportunity after 35 minutes, shooting after receiving a pass from the right hand side, but he missed the goal by miles! The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Radovan Jaška from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 40 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! It emerged that
Onkarabile Kgaswane had hurt his left foot after 40 minutes, which led him to abandon the game.
Thabang Ramotshabe had already been warming up, and came on for
Onkarabile Kgaswane. The home side's
Teo Chuan Yong curled a free kick home after 41 minutes, putting Grilled ahead 4 - 0. 4 - 0 was the score after the first half. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.
After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) off the field.
Heng Dong Chu took his place. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Teo Chuan Yong gave
Chu Xin Lee a quick hug as he left the field. As
Teo Chuan Yong exited the field,
Bhavya Panigrahi volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. After 60 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Chu Xin Lee might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Kopano Makwala made a spectacular save.
Bernie Egan unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Grilled put in a good effort on the right, but
Bernie Egan saw his volley fly wide of the mark 67 minutes into the game. After 69 minutes, Grilled sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
Bernie Egan, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 5 - 0. Coming from the right,
Bernie Egan almost managed to score another goal for Grilled, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 5 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 70 percent of the time.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Bilal Mohammad Harun.
Cameron Law was a disappointment, however. The most dominating BOBBER player was without a doubt
Stanislav Stojka.
Kopano Makwala turned in a dismal performance, however.
