FC VPA trundled out to the pitch in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+8) (28) ability to attack in the middle today.
Yashar Abdifar will not be marking
Teo Chuan Yong, who is missing from the starting lineup. This may hamper his performance. With 11 minutes of the match played, a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
Kalki Parvathaneni, after dashing down on goal from the left and finding himself with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
Aleksi Suua is making an astonishing dash. The fans are chanting his name. You can hear it reverberate around the stadium. Now a manic sprint up the middle and into the box. Oh! He's thrown open the door! He's thrown open the door, shot the ball through, and slammed the door shut on Mr. Tumnus! VPA has taken the lead 27 minutes into the match, 1 to 0. There'll be no Turkish Delight after the match for the keeper! The clock read 28 minutes and things were deteriorating for the away team as VPA scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
Jouni 'Saippua' Mäki-Tulokas. Desperate for a goal, Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni saw that the home team's keeper was off his line. Coming in from the right side, his chip successfully reduced the lead to 2 - 1. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in VPA's
Aleksi Suua bringing the lead up to 3 - 1. Grilled's
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) was shown a yellow card after 39 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Halftime score was 3 - 1. Possession of the ball was split evenly between the teams during the forty-five minutes.
After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) off.
Heng Dong Chu took his place. The visitors' right side was dangerous today;
Kalki Parvathaneni made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily scored, reducing the gap to 3 - 2 after 57 minutes. After 58 minutes,
Jouni 'Saippua' Mäki-Tulokas put VPA ahead 4 - 2 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Salah Kamel came on for
Chu Xin Lee. As the 60 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Vikram Mudaliar reluctantly made way for
Bernie Egan. VPA managed to extend their lead to 5 - 2 when
Rane 'Kingi' Uitti slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. VPA's
Jalle Kaipainen had a good first touch on the flank, but was quickly closed down so he crossed to
Teemu 'Teflon' Mehtola who somehow managed to curl the ball wide. VPA solidified their lead at the 71 minute mark, as
Aleksi Suua snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 6 - 2. One, two, three goals! That completed a hattrick for
Aleksi Suua. AH! AH! AH! Grilled's right side looked dangerous after 73 minutes, as
Bernie Egan broke through.
Mohd Azza Tabari continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy. The fourth official announced that there would be 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 6 - 2. VPA set the tempo, maintaining 51 percent of possession.
VPA's best player was
Rane 'Kingi' Uitti. I can't remember
Eetu-Petteri Alasalmi ever having a worse night than he just had. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt
Chan Ze Han. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Kalki Parvathaneni today.
