Grilled 8 - 1 Tsunami

2850 punters turned up at The Cooking Pot, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Mateusz Słabowski was the appointed referee with assistance provided by István Csendér and Felix Garten. Grilled's starters: Vadalà - Nguyen, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Jeftić, Kamel, Panigrahi, Dong Chu - 敬龙 (Jinglong), Xin Lee, Mudaliar.

The following players took the field for Tsunami: Godard - Schwarz, Hinds, Gamble, Dookeran, Rajter - Corbie, Pinder, Nützen, Reece - Okoniewski.

Grilled Birds entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Tsunami JRM, chose to start the game with a 5-4-1 lineup. Grilled decided to play creatively at a utopian (19) level. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Tsunami, taking advantage of their formidable (9) level with that tactic. Mateja Jeftić could have put Grilled into the lead after 3 minutes, but the free kick went just wide. Salah Kamel gave Grilled the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 After 20 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and Salah Kamel gave the Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Mateja Jeftić squirmed through their central defence after 21 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. Grilled's 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) showed his experience, anticipating the outcome of the opponent's defensive clearance and positioning himself perfectly to volley in an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box. 4 - 0. Cheers filled the stadium as Chu Xin Lee broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 0 to Grilled. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 31 minutes, Grilled did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, Salah Kamel was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 6 - 0. At that, Salah Kamel was noted down for a hat trick! Grilled's Vikram Mudaliar got himself booked for a foul. It was 6 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 73 percent of the ball.

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) gave Radovan Jaška a quick hug as he left the field. 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) was handed the Grilled captain's armband. 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) should probably have put his team up another goal after 62 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Carlton Godard kept the visitors in the game. In a rapid move 65 minutes into the match, Cyril Künzler of Grilled lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked Chu Xin Lee who easily hit it home to make it 7 - 0. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! After 70 minutes, Tsunami sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Władysław Okoniewski, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 7 - 1. Tsunami's Joe Hinds was shown a yellow card after 78 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Grilled put in a good effort on the right, but 吴 (Wu) 敬龙 (Jinglong) saw his volley fly wide of the mark 79 minutes into the game. 81 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Chu Xin Lee broke through, making the score 8 - 1 for Grilled. This third goal completed a hattrick for Chu Xin Lee. Chu Xin Lee almost caused an own goal when he foolishly sent the ball towards his own goalie, but at the last minute one of his teammates managed to stop the ball. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 8 - 1. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 74 percent.

Grilled's best player was Chu Xin Lee. Leonard Nguyen was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Tsunami player was without a doubt Antonio Reece. Elvis Dookeran turned in a dismal performance, however.
