Kinshasa 1 - 9 Grilled

The 2608 spectators at Stade Tata Eddy were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Ramzi Moubayed was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Pat Kozmian and Randy Janssen. The weather was sunny, which meant perfect conditions for technical players in both teams. However, it was also quite warm, which meant quick or physically strong players were drained faster and couldn't play their best game. The following players had been chosen by Kinshasa: Bobutaka - Duva, Valianatos, Bögli - Mangwa, Oravecz, Poidevin, Mupanga, Thomassin - Lusinga, Mubesala.

The following players took the field for Grilled: Vadalà - Panigrahi, 中北 (Nakakita) - Künzler, Nguyen, Parvathaneni, Jaška, Dong Chu - Mudaliar, Mottl, Jian Hui.

Royal Blue Kinshasa 04 started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Chrispin Mupanga of Kinshasa was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Ralf Bögli was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his right knee after 18 minutes. Gheorghe Toma had already been warming up, and came on for Ralf Bögli. With 19 minutes played Frédéric Poidevin almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. In a rapid move 20 minutes into the match, Cyril Künzler of Grilled lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked Prokop Mottl who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! Grilled's Radovan Jaška was shown a yellow card after 25 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 37 minutes, Kinshasa raised their score by one when Kévin Thomassin's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by Ricky Mubesala. 1 - 1. Given a free kick close to the byline, Grilled tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 2, 38 minutes into the game. 39 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty and Bhavya Panigrahi was able to increase the visitors' lead to 1 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. After 42 minutes, Jérémie Lusinga slowly got up on his feet, clutching his left thigh, but eventually signalled that he was ready to play on. With 43 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 1 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Cyril Künzler. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Bhavya Panigrahi from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 44 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! 1 - 4 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 58 percent of the ball.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Jérémy Tarin came on for 悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita). As the captain was no longer on the pitch, Vikram Mudaliar took over the role of being the Grilled captain. 56 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 5 as Kalki Parvathaneni finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Yee Jian Hui increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 6. After 70 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed Prokop Mottl to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 7. After 72 minutes, Grilled's Prokop Mottl burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 8. By then Prokop Mottl had scored three goals - a hat trick! 80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Prokop Mottl gave Dante Tran a quick hug as he left the field. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Vikram Mudaliar reluctantly made way for José Luiz Velho on the pitch. Manuel Vadalà was the new captain of Grilled - handed the armband by the departing player. After 89 minutes, the Kinshasa coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Chrispin Mupanga off the field. Hicham Abou Raad took his place. Maybe due to the uphill battle the team was facing, the Kinshasa manager looked to change things around. After 89 minutes, Frédéric Poidevin and Kostas Valianatos swapped positions on the field. Ricky Mubesala would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Kalu Matalatala entered the game for Kinshasa as the match clock showed 89 minutes. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 5 minutes as stoppage time. After 90 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Yee Jian Hui a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 9. The match ends 1 - 9. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

The most dominating Kinshasa player was without a doubt Patrik Oravecz. On the other hand, Gheorghe Toma's play was disheartening. Grilled's best player was Kalki Parvathaneni. Jérémy Tarin on the other hand, had a terrible day.
