whistle 1 - 8 Grilled
The 2015 spectators at
Saltwhistle bay beach were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Henri Haltsonen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Charles Vonck and
Mieczysław Gadziński. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. The following players took the field for whistle:
Dennis -
Busby,
Harper,
Hukka -
Martin,
Brancker,
Potter,
Gaskin -
Cover,
Banheira,
Togkas.
Grilled's lineup was:
Vara -
Jeftić,
中北 (Nakakita) -
Künzler,
Nguyen,
Kamel,
Jaška,
Dong Chu -
Mudaliar,
Mottl,
Jian Hui.
It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-4-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3.
Heng Dong Chu managed to make an excellent pass from the wing, but
Leonard Nguyen was not as skillful and couldn't finish it off. After 18 minutes, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 1, as
Leonard Nguyen finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 2.
Aleksi Hukka couldn't do anything to stop the technically gifted
Yee Jian Hui as he dodged past on his way to scoring a wonderful goal for Grilled - 0 - 3! With 24 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 4 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Heng Dong Chu. After 26 minutes of game time,
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but
Hyron Dennis was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. The referee showed Grilled's
Radovan Jaška the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Yee Jian Hui received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 33 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 0 - 5 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Jérémy Tarin entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes.
Vikram Mudaliar was the new captain of Grilled - handed the armband by the departing player. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Mateja Jeftić reluctantly made way for
Chirag Thevar on the pitch. With
Mateja Jeftić no longer on the pitch,
Jérémy Tarin took over free kick duty. At 48 minutes into the game, whistle's
Marlon Gaskin deftly knocked the ball home after an impressive run down the left, reducing the visitors' lead to 1 - 5.
Everaldo Banheira was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his right knee after 54 minutes. It was a critical moment for the team, as there were no substitutes on the bench for the injured player. 57 minutes into the game a free kick by
Jérémy Tarin found its way through the home side's poorly assembled defensive formation, making Grilled's lead 1 - 6. 62 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 7 as
Vikram Mudaliar finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
Prokop Mottl was, after 65 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
Hyron Dennis made the save. With 73 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
Prokop Mottl of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 8. Grilled's
Jérémy Tarin made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 74 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 1 - 8. Grilled had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
whistle's top performer was clearly
Alvin Cover.
Darren Potter was a disappointment, however.
Salah Kamel performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand,
Chirag Thevar's play was disheartening.
