Mongo 5 - 0 Grilled

It was a scorching day at the stadium today. It was a sunny day and the technical players could roll the ball around with ease. Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. The following players took the field: Kordaš - Magsa, Hale, Enkhbaatar - Gal, Mongke, Tortulakh, Inalchuk, Genghis - Buyruk, Morales.

Starters: Vadalà - Webb, Jeftić - Kamel, Ze Han, ter Berg, Muthyala, Xin Lee - Parvathaneni, Xin Seng, Egan.

FC Mongo started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their divine (+7) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. Nikita Kordaš looked great 5 minutes in after stopping a shot by the visitors' Chu Xin Lee. The visitors' central defense should have had no trouble clearing the pass to Asım Buyruk, but the Mongo player managed to shrug them off and fire a low shot that 5-holed the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Muhammed Emin Hale struck a 30 yard free kick home after 12 minutes. 2 - 0 for the home team. Asım Buyruk increased Mongo's lead to 3 - 0, connecting with a hooked ball from the right. The away fans are claiming handball, to no avail. Halftime score was 3 - 0. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 57 percent possession of the ball.

51 minutes had passed when Mongo put themselves up 4 - 0 after the visiting defenders lost the ball to Buandelgereen Genghis, who came up from the left and proceeded to easily go around the goalkeeper and knock the ball home. Things were going from bad to worse for the visitors. Asım Buyruk was able to squirm through the central defense after 64 minutes and score, bringing the lead to 5 - 0. That made three goals for Asım Buyruk. He'll be taking the match ball home with him having scored a hattrick! With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Chu Xin Lee looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Heng Dong Chu, though he would have liked to continue. Buandelgereen Genghis was doing a great job on the wing, sending in a brilliant pass to his teammates in the middle, but Bourtai Mongke seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 77 minutes on the clock after Muhammed Emin Hale's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Mongo player a yellow card though. Grilled's coach was furious with Kalle ter Berg after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. 85 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Kalle ter Berg gave Bilal Mohammad Harun a quick hug as he left the field. After 85 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Mateja Jeftić off. Bhavya Panigrahi took his place. Mateja Jeftić was coming off, and had taken his last free kick for the day. That meant Neeraj Muthyala got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 5 - 0. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 57 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

Denny Morales performed admirably for Mongo. Speaking of stinking up the place, Surtak Magsa sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Grilled's top performer was clearly Kalki Parvathaneni. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Manuel Vadalà seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
