Variant 1 - 4 Grilled
The spectators didn't look too happy about the constant raining at the stadium today. The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. Lineup:

The teams stopped and stared at each other - it was like they were looking in a mirror, since they both lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Variant used their divine (+7) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field.
Kirill Kulikovskiy gave Variant the 1 - 0 lead, as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then placed the ball at the keeper's right post – what a clinical finish! With 26 minutes played, the visitors almost leveled the score.
Bhavya Panigrahi shot a hard curved free kick, but it struck the post. With 41 minutes played, the visitors could have scored the tying goal after
Bernie Egan came through the middle, but his kick went wide. A really bad tackle inside the penalty area 42 minutes into the match gave the referee no other choice but to award the visiting Grilled a penalty.
Bhavya Panigrahi knocked it home to make it 1 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Well, look at this! Nikki Minaj is on the Jumbotron in naught but pink lipstick, soccer balls, and a Ben Nevis of platinum hair. I've not seen anything like it before. She's not got enough room inside her for a rheumatic pain. Can you hear her? After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Heng Dong Chu off.
Kalle ter Berg took his place. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Vikram Mudaliar reluctantly made way for
Kalki Parvathaneni. With 73 minutes played
Luís Fernando Castro Lima almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. Grilled caught their opponents out with a clever counter-attack down the right wing 74 minutes into the game.
Cyril Künzler was there to finish off the move - 1 - 2!
Bhavya Panigrahi increased the visitors' lead by volleying in a pass from the right. 1 - 3. 80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Salah Kamel gave
Chu Xin Lee a quick hug as he left the field. The game had been going for 89 minutes when
Bernie Egan broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 4 for Grilled, much to the home crowd's dismay. The match ends 1 - 4. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 51 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
Variant's best player was
Netos Epithetikoglou. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Jón Örvarsson today.
Bernie Egan performed admirably for Grilled. Good thing
Manuel Vadalà isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
