SKR Wisła 1 - 5 Grilled

The weather was pretty good at the stadium today for the match. The following players took the field: Lapochkin - Bijvoet, Claassen, Pavlichenkov - Gniazdowski, Szustakowski, Yoldaş, Grzesiek, Wesołek - Mrkela, Pająk.

The following players had been selected: Dob - Webb, Panigrahi - Künzler, Mohammad Harun, Muthyala, Kamel, ter Berg - Ze Han, Mudaliar, Egan.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+6) ability to attack in the middle today. The visitors' central defense should have had no trouble clearing the pass to Sobiesław Gniazdowski, but the SKR Wisła player managed to shrug them off and fire a low shot that 5-holed the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Vikram Mudaliar tied the game at 1 - 1 after 29 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right. Given a free kick from a ways out after 30 minutes, Grilled sent an arching ball into the penalty box. It was headed clear, but Neeraj Muthyala was waiting just outside the area and fired it home to make it 1 - 2. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. Grilled's Chan Ze Han received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 32 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 1 - 3. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! Grilled came close to extending their lead as Vikram Mudaliar delivered a low effort on goal from the right but the angle was too sharp, and the shot was destined for the side netting. Halftime score was 1 - 3. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 60 percent of possession.

It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. The ball was in the back of the home team's net yet again after 53 minutes, but this time the referee called the goal back because Vikram Mudaliar had knocked a member of the opposing team to the ground while the play occurred down the middle of the field. Sjors Bijvoet got left behind when Grilled's Bernie Egan made a sudden rush forward in minute 63, finishing it off with a clinical strike. 1 - 4! Grilled already had the lead, so Neeraj Muthyala probably won't be too disappointed that his speculative shot from the right 69 minutes in fell wide of the goal. Chan Ze Han somehow managed to break free of his man on the left wing and only needed a relatively easy finish to bring Grilled's lead up to 1 - 5. Sjors Bijvoet missed a penalty 76 minutes in, seemingly unable to stay focused for the shot. Sobiesław Gniazdowski caught everyone by surprise with a unexpected backheel after 80 minutes. Arkadiusz 'Pistolero' Pająk was perfectly placed to take advantage of the play, but unfortunately, he was as surprised as anyone and couldn't finish for SKR Wisła. Grilled's Bernie Egan made it through the home team's defense on the right hand side 81 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded net when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 1 - 5. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 60 percent possession of the ball.

SKR Wisła's top performer was clearly Mladen Mrkela. Speaking of stinking up the place, Sobiesław Gniazdowski sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Most important Grilled player was Chan Ze Han. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Bhavya Panigrahi today.
