FC MALAYSIA TIGERS started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled's
Chan Ze Han gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 14 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Grilled's
Heng Dong Chu made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 16 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line.
Vikram Mudaliar received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 17 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
Antoine Griezmann charged down the left and looked sure to score for MALAYSIA 24 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 56 percent of the ball.
After 51 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Cyril Künzler a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3. The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when
Abraham Ravn tried to sneak the ball past the keeper.
Massoud Dob was too alert for that! The referee showed Grilled's
Bernie Egan the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bhavya Panigrahi gave
Radovan Jaška a quick hug as he left the field. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Vikram Mudaliar delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 76 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
Gianluigi 'Gigi' Buffon got a fingertip on
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita)'s shot from the left 77 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal.
Berti Vogts challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 78 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it. After 88 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Vikram Mudaliar off the field.
Prokop Mottl took his place. The match ends 0 - 3. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
Most important MALAYSIA player was
Luca Zuffi.
Paolo Maldini on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Bernie Egan.
Radovan Jaška was a disappointment, however.
