The coaches were in sync today, as both teams lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (+5) ability to great effect. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
Jan Miejski looked great 3 minutes in after stopping a shot by the visitors'
Cyril Knzler. Grilled's opponents know to be wary of
Bernie Egan's speed, but it made little difference as he blew past the defense 8 minutes into the match. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive! After 13 minutes, Grilled's
Chan Ze Han made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. The game had been going for 14 minutes when
Cyril Knzler broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2 for Grilled, much to the home crowd's dismay. It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. Grilled's
Bilal Mohammad Harun received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 17 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 3. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. A thrilling play through the middle after 38 minutes gave Grilled's
Bernie Egan a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 0 - 4. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 4. Well, look at this! Nikki Minaj is on the Jumbotron in naught but pink lipstick, soccer balls, and a Ben Nevis of platinum hair. I've not seen anything like it before. She's not got enough room inside her for a rheumatic pain. Can you hear her? The home club's fans got back into the match when
Ashok Goradia broke through the visitors' central defense and caught their keeper napping, making it 1 - 4. Palo's
Ashok Goradia was shown a yellow card after 54 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Given a free kick from a ways out after 59 minutes, Grilled sent an arching ball into the penalty box. It was headed clear, but
Gilbert Webb was waiting just outside the area and fired it home to make it 1 - 5.
Kalki Parvathaneni's Road Runneresque speed was too much for
Adrian Dsterhft, who could only look on as the Grilled player blasted one home. 1 - 6. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach.
Bilal Mohammad Harun was, after 70 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the center, but the home side's keeper
Jan Miejski made the save. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Salah Kamel came on for
Neeraj Muthyala.
Salah Kamel came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but his attempted chip over
Jan Miejski just kept rising and landed in the relieved crowd. After 85 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed
Kalki Parvathaneni to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 7.
Adrian Dsterhft did everything he could to get one back for the home crowd, but keeper
Massoud Dob denied him with a spectacular save. The fourth official announced that there would be 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 7. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 62 percent of possession.
Palo's top performer was clearly
Idomeneas Stavris. I can't remember
Heino Thuesen ever having a worse night than he just had. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt
Bernie Egan. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Gilbert Webb sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
