Grilled Birds trundled out to the pitch in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Miško Žmonės, chose to start the game with a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their divine (+5) ability to focus their attacks down the middle.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita)'s name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 3 following a run up the middle gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead. A particularly graphic suggestion to the referee describing what he could do with his turkey giblets led to a straight red card for
Kalki Parvathaneni.
Joel Haukkasalo stayed close to
Chan Ze Han, trying to obstruct his game - and the gambit is paid off forŽmonės. The visiting team's
Bennie Zeelen was able to score the 1 - 1 equalizer with a header 7 minutes in, after some good work on the right. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 17 minutes into the match, and
Joel Haukkasalo wasn't about to waste it. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 1 - 2 for the visitors. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 21 minutes on the clock after
Joel Haukkasalo's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Žmonės player a yellow card though. Grilled's
Bilal Mohammad Harun almost tied things up after 27 minutes when he broke through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post. Maybe it was because of his team's lead, or maybe it was due to the ease with which he broke down the left, but
Jeroslavas Kilikauskas was a bit too sure of his talents, so instead of taking the easy tap-in goal after 30 minutes, he went for the backheel, which he put woefully wide. 1 - 2 was the score after the first half. Nikki Minaj appeared on the Jumbotron wearing pink lipstick, a towering pile of platinum-white hair, and a pair of soccer balls. As the 60 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
悠太 (Yuta) 中北 (Nakakita) reluctantly made way for
Gilbert Webb. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle instead.
Cyril Künzler made a superb effort after 61 minutes after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second to preserve the away lead. Grilled put pressure on the visitors' central defense with 67 minutes played, but
Gilbert Webb couldn't find an opening. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Cyril Künzler off.
Heng Dong Chu took his place. As
Cyril Künzler left the field, the coach signaled to
Neeraj Muthyala to start taking the set pieces that occurred. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bernie Egan gave
José Luiz Velho a quick hug as he left the field. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The home crowd was not impressed when
Bennie Zeelen came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 89 minutes. Žmonės were now up 1 - 3. The match ends 1 - 3. Žmonės set the tempo, maintaining 53 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Vikram Mudaliar. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Chan Ze Han today. Most important Žmonės player was
Marcelius Janevičius. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Joel Haukkasalo seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
