Auksas 1 - 4 Grilled
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd that came out to the stadium today. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. They fielded:
Müggler -
Biniaz,
Plail -
Voronkovas,
Altona,
Duparinov,
Tapadas,
Alpas -
Pinillos,
Drūsys,
Casco.
The following players had been selected:
Dob -
Webb,
Panigrahi -
Künzler,
Mohammad Harun,
Muthyala,
Xin Seng,
Parvathaneni -
Ze Han,
Egan,
Mudaliar.
The teams stopped and stared at each other - it was like they were looking in a mirror, since they both lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled used their divine (+4) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. Always quick and a menace to his opponents,
Cyril Künzler got through after 3 minutes, but the keeper deflected his shot and a defender took care of the rebound. After 4 minutes, Grilled's
Chan Ze Han made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. After 15 minutes of play,
Olimpijus Drūsys evened things up for Auksas with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 1 - 1. Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 28 minutes. Grilled's
Bilal Mohammad Harun gave the visitors a 1 - 2 lead after 34 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Halftime score was 1 - 2. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 54 percent possession of the ball.
With 64 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 1 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Chan Ze Han. The Auksas coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change their strategy. They weren't going to win with their current game plan, so the Auksas coach told his players how to change things up 71 minutes in. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The ball was in the back of the home team's net yet again after 74 minutes, but this time the referee called the goal back because
Vikram Mudaliar had knocked a member of the opposing team to the ground while the play occurred down the middle of the field. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Neeraj Muthyala reluctantly made way for
Chu Xin Lee. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Heng Dong Chu came on for
Kalki Parvathaneni. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 1 minutes as stoppage time. After 89 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Bernie Egan who increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 4. The match ends 1 - 4. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 54 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
The most outstanding Auksas player was without a doubt
Gust Altona. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Olimpijus Drūsys sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Bhavya Panigrahi seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
