Grilled's Kalki Parvathaneni tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. Grilled's Bhavya Panigrahi was shown a yellow card after 11 minutes for slicing down an opponent. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to Vikram Mudaliar, but the Grilled player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Vikram Mudaliar had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 15 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. It was 1 - 0 at the break. Grilled had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Vikram Mudaliar off the field. Chan Ze Han took his place. As the 65 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Bilal Mohammad Harun reluctantly made way for Chu Xin Lee on the pitch. After 70 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Bernie Egan might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However, Manuel Barrena Delgado made a spectacular save. 80 minutes in, Athletic's Demilio Adelaar received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Athletic focused on finding shooting opportunities from distance and after 82 minutes Demilio Adelaar fired off the big cannon, but the shot went sailing over the cross bar and into the car park. With the scoreboard clock showing 87 minutes, the inexperienced Grilled team fell into disarray. A wonderful trick by Chan Ze Han that left Muhammed Emin Ilım bewildered really deserved to end in a goal but the keeper made a fine save. The match ends 1 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 51 percent of the ball.

The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Kalki Parvathaneni. Islom Davlatov on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Athletic player was Alfred Kellenter. On the other hand, Mamoudou Diagne's play was disheartening.
