Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas FC Nottingham Forest lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
Bernie Egan, but the Grilled player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Grilled's
Cyril Knzler struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 2 - 0 after 31 minutes. Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. Forest were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 38 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to
Wouter Martens, who smashed it home to make the score 2 - 1. Forest's
Thibeau Martens was shown a yellow card after 39 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Finn Martens of Forest displayed some of his fantastic technical abilities when he brought the ball down neatly using his instep before nutmegging the bewildered
Neeraj Muthyala and smashing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2 - 2. 41 minutes into the game,
Robrecht Martens was a hair's breadth away from giving Forest the lead with a shot from over on the left. A prompt block by
Massoud Dob saved the home team that time. It was 2 - 2 at the break. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bilal Mohammad Harun gave
Islom Davlatov a quick hug as he left the field. The referee showed Grilled's
Neeraj Muthyala the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Many thought
Bernie Egan ought to have been awarded a penalty 53 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
Aymane 'Kozzy' Martens after a determined run through the middle. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Kalki Parvathaneni reluctantly made way for
Chan Ze Han on the pitch. Forest took the lead 73 minutes into the game, making the score 2 - 3 after some elegant movement down the middle.
Jules Martens was the scorer. After a fatal mistake from the away team's right side defence 84 minutes into the match, an alert
Chan Ze Han bagged the ball for Grilled, levelling the score to 3 - 3. After 85 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Bernie Egan off the field.
Prokop Mottl took his place. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 86 minutes allowed
Vincent Martens to score for Forest. The scoreboard now read 3 - 4. Forest's
Jules Martens was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 87 minutes. The referee announced 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. With the scoreboard clock showing 90 minutes, the inexperienced Forest team fell into disarray. The match ends 3 - 4. Grilled had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.
Vikram Mudaliar performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand,
Prokop Mottl's play was disheartening. Most important Forest player was
Jules Martens. However,
Aymane 'Kozzy' Martens made a disastrous appearance.
