Vampiros 4 - 4 Grilled
The fans at the stadium today were roasting in the hot sun. It was a sunny day and the technical players could roll the ball around with ease. Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. The following players took the field:
Jahedi -
Hedegaard,
Kragh -
Mann,
Paaske,
Hentze,
Pedersen,
Madecki -
Hamon,
Karai,
Heal.
They fielded:
Dob -
Webb,
中北 (Nakakita) -
Künzler,
Xin Seng,
Mohammad Harun,
Muthyala,
Romijn -
Mudaliar,
Ze Han,
Parvathaneni.
Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. Vampiros used their divine (+2) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+4) level with that tactic. Vampiros broke through on the left 14 minutes into the game, with
Rafael Heal firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead. Cheers filled the stadium as
Jean-Michel Hamon broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Vampiros. Grilled certainly deserved a goal after some stunning play down the left, but
Neeraj Muthyala just wasn't able to finish. Grilled's right side looked dangerous after 28 minutes, as
Bilal Mohammad Harun broke through.
Karrar Jahedi continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. The home team's fans were upset when, after 33 minutes, the visiting
Bilal Mohammad Harun broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 2 - 1 was the score. It was obvious that team Vampiros had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Vampiros solidified their lead at the 36 minute mark, as
Claus Hentze dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 1. 3 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Vampiros's
Henry Paaske increasing the lead to 4 - 1. As the 70 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Vikram Mudaliar reluctantly made way for
Islom Davlatov on the pitch. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Islom Davlatov from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 82 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Grilled were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 83 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to
Neeraj Muthyala, who smashed it home to make the score 4 - 2. 85 minutes into the game, Grilled's attack got through on the right, but
Neeraj Muthyala couldn't handle the ball and his feeble kick wound up in the keeper's arms. Under heavy pressure after 86 minutes, the inexperienced Vampiros struggled to maintain their level of play. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. A bit later, Grilled's
Bilal Mohammad Harun easily reduced the lead to 4 - 3 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. 90 minutes in, Vampiros's
Rafael Heal received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Grilled tied it all up, 90 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by
Kalki Parvathaneni, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 4 - 4. The match ends 4 - 4. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.
Vampiros's best player was
Jean-Michel Hamon.
Nicolas Mann turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Islom Davlatov. However,
Gilbert Webb made a disastrous appearance.
