Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. Sri Lanka Mavs started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their world class level with that tactic. Lanka took the lead 7 minutes in, as Ferial Hajiar broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. After 38 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Yee Jian Hui" class="awayplayer">Yee Jian Hui a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. 1 - 3 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 53 percent of the ball.

The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes, Ho�ng Trung Qu� came on for J�r�my Tarin. As J�r�my Tarin exited the field, Gilbert Webb" class="awayplayer">Gilbert Webb volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. After 50 minutes, Grilled's Prokop Mottl" class="awayplayer">Prokop Mottl burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 4. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Neeraj Muthyala from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 59 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Patryk Dudkowski slowly got up on his feet, clutching his right thigh, but eventually signalled that he was ready to play on. Patryk Dudkowski of Lanka was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish Ho�ng Trung Qu�, which resulted in a goal making the score 2 - 4. The home crowd were delighted when Sam Dissanayake scored with a header after an attack from the right, making the score 3 - 4. But did he use his hand? That'll be one for the pundits to talk about after the game, that's for sure! Prokop Mottl" class="awayplayer">Prokop Mottl received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 73 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 3 - 5. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. By then Prokop Mottl" class="awayplayer">Prokop Mottl had scored three goals - a hat trick! The visitors' Jos� Luiz Velho took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 76 minutes into the match. 3 - 6 for Grilled. 77 minutes into the match, Mohd Jafni Abdul Majid" class="awayplayer">Mohd Jafni Abdul Majid came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. The Grilled players could smell victory in the air. Mohd Jafni Abdul Majid" class="awayplayer">Mohd Jafni Abdul Majid wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Remco van der Ban after 80 minutes. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 4 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Grilled increased their lead after 89 minutes when Neeraj Muthyala broke through on the right, upping the score to 3 - 7, much to the home crowd's dismay. The match ends 3 - 7. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

Lanka's top performer was clearly Navaratnam Naidu. On the other hand, Bandara Jayatissa's play was disheartening. Bilal Mohammad Harun" class="awayplayer">Bilal Mohammad Harun performed admirably for Grilled. Remco van der Ban turned in a dismal performance, however.
