Monagas Boss FC started the game in a 4-3-3 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Monagas showed off their creative tactics. Grilled took the lead after 13 minutes making the score 0 - 1. Dante Tran" class="awayplayer">Dante Tran placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. Grilled increased the lead to 0 - 2 as Jérémy Tarin scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. Monagas's Adalberto Duno got himself booked for a foul. Some fine movement on the left led to a Grilled goal after 35 minutes, making it 0 - 3. Islom Davlatov was noted down as the scorer. 36 minutes into the game Monagas broke through on the left wing and Martin Adam managed to reduce the lead to 1 - 3. The home crowd were delighted when Martin Adam scored with a header after an attack from the right, making the score 2 - 3. But did he use his hand? That'll be one for the pundits to talk about after the game, that's for sure! The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 52 percent of the ball.

The bench was restless, and with 46 minutes passed Monagas's coach gave Miguel Ferrer the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Julian Scheier reluctantly left the field. Monagas's Aniello Campetella put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 3 - 3 with 47 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. The cannonball from 35 metres by Martin Adam of Monagas was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net. Jérémy Tarin of Grilled received a yellow card after 60 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 62 minutes allowed Iman Eshrafi to score for Grilled. The scoreboard now read 3 - 4. After 77 minutes, Jörg Watermann made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 4 - 4. The home side put themselves ahead 5 - 4 after 80 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from Rubén Novoa, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. With 89 minutes played, the Grilled coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Leong Wan Kang came on, Iman Eshrafi had to leave the fray. The referee announced 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 5 - 4. Monagas enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

The most dominating Monagas player was without a doubt Rubén Novoa. However, Miguel Ferrer made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's top performer was clearly Mohammad Ramli Saliman. Ahmed Pećanić was a disappointment, however.
