Luigi Dondi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jean-Félix Vandenberghe and Abdallah Hajjaji. Divers tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. They fielded: Gavanelli - Fels von Hartenstein, Nilsson - Adamiani, Mair, Mohd Khairul Nazar, Ouyang, Corghi - Mungiu, Genz, Postnikov.

A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. The following players had been chosen: Tian Han - 福泉 (Fuquan) , Meyer - Ping Shun, Shun An, 长春 (Changchun), Lee Hao, Leong Kum - bin Mohd Kassim, Ying Lee, 勇航 (Yonghang).

Divers saw most attack opportunities on the wings. 5 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Divers was R. Postnikov. The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 17 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but G. Gavanelli got the best of it, blocking the shot from 朱. 长春 (Changchun). After 20 minutes, R. Postnikov put Divers ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Possession was split evenly between the teams.

As usual, W. Ping Shun tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all. It was obvious that Divers had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. Divers managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when T. Fels von Hartenstein cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. R. Postnikov enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again. J. Genz wanted to play on, but the Divers coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 67 minutes into the game by A. Gandarilla. Grilled fought on and, after 74 minutes, A. Leong Kum was able to reduce the deficit to 3 - 1 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip. Grilled certainly deserved a goal after some stunning play down the left, but 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) just wasn't able to finish. The score became 4 - 1 at 78 minutes into the game, when Divers were given a penalty which M. Mungiu blasted straight down the middle giving the keeper no chance! After 79 minutes, speedy V. Adamiani dashed past his marker, making plenty of room for the second wave of attack. However, M. Mungiu failed to score. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Divers scored another to make it 5 - 1 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for V. Adamiani after 84 minutes. By now, the players in Divers felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. With 89 minutes played, the Grilled coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. R. bin Ahmad came on, C. Meyer had to leave the fray. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Divers, with 55 percent of the ball.

Most important Divers player was R. Postnikov. G. Gavanelli was a disappointment, however. 田. 勇航 (Yonghang) performed admirably for Grilled. R. bin Ahmad turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 5 - 1.
