Manchester 5 - 2 Grilled

Dark skies made the crowd of 61782 at Old Trafford a little nervous, but the rain held off. Mario Sachau was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Marcel Balcells and George Mercado. Manchester started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. They fielded: Barning - Heijn, Ovelar - Fedorczyk, Hausladen, Coca, Steinboeck, Buda - Bugaev, Aleksandrić, Messner.

Grilled had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. Lineup: Tian Han - 福泉 (Fuquan) , bin Ahmad - Shun An, 长春 (Changchun), Ping Shun, Jing Wei, bin Jantan - bin Mohd Kassim, Ying Lee, 勇航 (Yonghang).

The visiting M. bin Mohd Kassim was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 8 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. You could feel the tension in the crowd after the referee awarded the home side a penalty kick and a chance to equalise. Sadly, F. Heijn's shot sailed wide of the goal. With 15 minutes having been played, Manchester scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but S. Fedorczyk was marked down as the scorer. After 31 minutes, F. Heijn came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Manchester the lead. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave G. Ovelar from Manchester a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 33 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The visitors' equaliser seemed sure to come after 37 minutes, following a one on one situation around the left hand side of the goal area, but S. Barning got the best of it, blocking the shot from C. Ying Lee. Grilled's W. Ping Shun was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 39 minutes. Grilled tied it all up, 42 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by 朱. 长春 (Changchun), who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 2 - 2. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 51 percent of the ball.

They were singing the praises of F. Heijn 49 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 3 - 2 to Manchester. C. Buda made a nice dash down the wing after 68 minutes, but was unable to get the cross into the box. A goal kick was awarded. The bench was restless, and with 75 minutes passed Grilled's coach gave Q. Madaini the opportunity the player had been hoping for. R. bin Ahmad reluctantly left the field. After 77 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and D. Coca gave the Manchester supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 2. Grilled's right side looked dangerous after 79 minutes, as A. bin Jantan broke through. S. Barning continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy. Coming in on the left, W. Shun An did everything right to get a goal for Grilled after 83 minutes, but his finishing shot was stabbed clear by the keeper. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Manchester to 5 - 2 as S. Fedorczyk finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. Grilled needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 89 minutes 凌. 福泉 (Fuquan) made way for G. Dorogan. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

The most dominating Manchester player was without a doubt V. Bugaev. F. Heijn turned in a dismal performance, however. Grilled's best player was M. bin Mohd Kassim. G. Dorogan was a disappointment, however. The match ends 5 - 2.
