Grilled 2 - 0 GLV
ouds darkened the skies at
The Cooking Pot as 6802 spectators turned up for the match.
Anders Bergkvist was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Steve Ogi and
Erling Halsen. Grilled had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. Starters: Noubaryan - Shaahee, Ross - 力勇 (Liyong), bin Mohd Kassim, Ying Lee, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Bakhtiar - Wan Kang, Bacelar, Bellamoli.
A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for GLV. The following players took the field: Maranho - Boudrifa, Zitouni, Otmane, Zaidi, Yaacoubi - Zerrouki, Pihl, Vara, Psomas - Razavi.
Grilled showed off their creative tactics. GLV were relying on their ability to counter-attack. After 13 minutes of play,
Chow Ying Lee gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. 15 minutes in, Grilled's
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 30 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Leong Wan Kang broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for Grilled. By now, the players in Grilled felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Good work by the GLV defensive line after 37 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found
Siamak Razavi alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 59 percent of the ball.
With 55 minutes played,
Chow Ying Lee could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. GLV mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 56 minutes, but
Moisis Psomas was unable to convert from short range. 72 minutes in,
Moisis Psomas made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but
Hovaness Noubaryan refused to let the ball slip by him. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let
Colby Awyong replace
Shiya Shaahee after 75 minutes.
Djan Bacelar wanted to play on, but the Grilled coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 85 minutes into the game by
Gleb Dorogan.
Gleb Dorogan became the new Grilled captain. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 63 percent of possession.
The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
田. 勇航 (Yonghang) .
Hovaness Noubaryan was a disappointment, however. GLV's top performer was clearly
Moisis Psomas.
Kaci Zaidi turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 0.
