CCP were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Grilled took the lead after 2 minutes as a result of 凌 (Ling) 福泉 (Fuquan) 's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 1 - 0. After 5 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) gave the Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. After 6 minutes CCP's Zulharisan bin Mamud contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. Cheers filled the stadium as Woon Shun An broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 3 - 0 to Grilled. By now, the players in Grilled felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Halftime score was 5 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 86 percent of the time.

After 46 minutes, CCP used a short break in the game to take new instructions from their coach. After 82 minutes, the defensive line of CCP created a counterattack through the middle that gave Pascual José Amado a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. After 85 minutes, CCP switched Javier Mesa with Ioan Diaconescu, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Ioan Diaconescu became the new CCP captain. The referee showed Grilled's 凌 (Ling) 福泉 (Fuquan) the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
