Tampines 2 - 4 Grilled

264 spectators had come to Phoenix Park this cloudy day. Bertrand Benner was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alexander Bertilsson and Torsten Boghi. Tampines had chosen a strategic 5-5-0 formation. Lineup: 云宇 (Yunyu) - Leong Ah, Jin Beng, Hazmirul Afi, Bangara, Kok Tse - bin Abdul Manap, bin Bahauddin, bin Awang, Soon Kit, Dongkai -.

A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. They fielded: Stacey - 俊桂 (Jungui), Madaini - Iten, Fonseca, 尊文 (Zunwen) , 长春 (Changchun), Djekshenkulov - bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Ying Lee.

Underestimation of the opposition made Grilled players perform way below their normal capacity. It was an obvious ambition of Tampines to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. 21 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Tampines was Hong Leong Ah. Mohd Ibrahim Hazmirul Afi's lack of experience almost gave Grilled a goal after 22 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. 31 minutes into the game Grilled's 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) found a gap in the home side's central defence and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim of Grilled seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by Qassem Madaini. Mohd Ibrahim Hazmirul Afi was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for Tampines with a strike from the left, but Dexter Stacey managed to ward the closing shot off to a corner. After 38 minutes, Grilled's Chow Ying Lee swiftly ran past Om Bangara and nutmegged the keeper! 1 - 3. After this, you could see that the players of Grilled were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. With 40 minutes played, Om Bangara was very close to reducing the score for Tampines with a low drive from the left, but a defender stuck his foot out just in the nick of time, blocking the shot to a corner. There was concern in the stands when, at the 41 minute mark, Tampines's Du Dongkai hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 3. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

Tampines supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to Kwek Kok Tse who reduced the visitors' lead after 49 minutes to 2 - 3. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Seytek Djekshenkulov received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 60 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score to make it 2 - 4. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Norizam bin Abdul Manap from Tampines a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 63 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Grilled were forced into a substitution as Paolo Iten couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing Shiya Shaahee to come in off the bench. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 51 percent of the ball.

陆 (Lu) 云宇 (Yunyu) performed admirably for Tampines. Mohd Ibrahim Hazmirul Afi was a disappointment, however. Most important Grilled player was Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim. Shiya Shaahee on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 4.
