Grilled 4 - 2 RFC
scorching day at The Cooking Pot, where 65579 spectators were in place for today's match.
Heinz Mischler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Buster Dinwoodie and
Jesús Cabra. Grilled decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. They fielded: Stacey - 俊桂 (Jungui), Madaini - Iten, Fonseca, 尊文 (Zunwen) , 长春 (Changchun), Djekshenkulov - bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Ying Lee.
RFC had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Starters: Bravo - Pölönen, Fromesta, Rychtarčík - Polat, Verpoot, Feng Liang, 聪郁 (Congyu), Gotovtsev - Bettella, Ehrsam.
Grilled clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 2 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) , who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
Paolo Iten increased Grilled's lead to 2 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. After 31 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Seytek Djekshenkulov might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Miguel Bravo made a spectacular save. Always a threat,
Chow Ying Lee tore past his marker and placed the ball right at the feet of the waiting
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim who should have easily scored for Grilled, but the ball went wide. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by RFC, with 51 percent of the ball.
A well-executed free kick by
Paolo Iten after 69 minutes made it 3 - 0 for Grilled. RFC fought on and, after 71 minutes,
Ferdi Verpoot was able to reduce the deficit to 3 - 1 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip.
Dexter Stacey made a brilliant save 77 minutes into the match, blocking a rocket of a shot from
Harald Polat on the right hand side. Grilled's
Chow Ying Lee got himself booked for a foul. There was concern in the stands when, at the 84 minute mark, RFC's
Miguel Bravo hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. Grilled managed to extend their lead to 4 - 1 when
Chow Ying Lee cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. The visitors' right side was dangerous today;
Rosario Bettella made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily reduced the lead to make it 4 - 2 87 minutes into the match. Possession in this half belonged to RFC, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.
Most important Grilled player was
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim.
Paolo Iten on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating RFC player was without a doubt
付 (Fu) 聪郁 (Congyu).
Miguel Bravo turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 2.
