Siegmund 3 - 5 Grilled
934 fans braved the pouring rain at Siegmund United Arena.
Robert E. Hansson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Bruno Léonard and
Adonis Daniel. Siegmund tactics involved an interesting 5-5-0 combination. Starters: 中村 (Nakamura) - Amengual, Ponce, Ze Su, 静南 (Jingnan), Crespin - Heersema, Simons, Gaitán, Schlager, Abernathy -.
Grilled decided to use a 2-5-3 set up. They fielded: Stacey - Fonseca, Madaini - Shaahee, bin Jantan, 尊文 (Zunwen) , 长春 (Changchun), Djekshenkulov - bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Ying Lee.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Siegmund.
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions. After 35 minutes, Grilled's
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1.
Andreu Amengual's lack of experience almost gave Grilled a goal after 37 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. With 40 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Siegmund resulted in a counterattack that set
丁 (Ding) 静南 (Jingnan) free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. The crowd was on its feet 42 minutes into the match, as Siegmund's
Glen Abernathy found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser. Grilled made it 1 - 2 as
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) knocked the corner kick to
Abdul bin Jantan who whipped a low drive in off the far post. The counterattacks of Siegmund were deadly and 44 minutes into the game,
Glen Abernathy received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 2 - 2. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 61 minutes into the match, and
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 2 - 3 for the visitors. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 62 minutes,
林 (Lin) 俊桂 (Jungui) came on for
Qassem Madaini.
Dexter Stacey was the new captain of Grilled - handed the armband by the departing player. Siegmund's
Alfredo Ponce had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 64 minutes having been played.
Balachander Balgurusamy was the replacement.
Edmundo Gaitán became the new Siegmund captain. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let
Paolo Iten replace
Shiya Shaahee after 65 minutes. After the ball was lifted in from the left,
朱 (Zhu) 长春 (Changchun) was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 68 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 70 minutes gave Siegmund a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and
Andreu Amengual stepped up to the challenge. 3 - 3 Grilled's
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim got himself booked for a foul. 78 minutes in, Siegmund appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
passable. After 82 minutes, a well-worked counterattack by Grilled on the right presented an easy opportunity in front of the goal that was duly converted by
Chow Ying Lee to make it 3 - 4.
Chow Ying Lee, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. After 87 minutes, Grilled's
Chow Ying Lee burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 3 - 5. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
The most dominating Siegmund player was without a doubt
丁 (Ding) 静南 (Jingnan).
Balachander Balgurusamy was a disappointment, however. Grilled's best player was
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim.
Alex Fonseca turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 5.
