Grilled 3 - 2 Canepa
illed had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. They fielded: Stacey - Madaini, 俊桂 (Jungui) - Iten, bin Jantan, 尊文 (Zunwen), 长春 (Changchun), Djekshenkulov - bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang), Ying Lee.
Canepa tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. The following players took the field: Capmany - Geering, Carviçais, Levin, Gaworski - Claessens, Bunn, Baldisserotto, Vidaurre, Ayala - Stanishev.
Grilled used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Canepa clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. It was a bad day for the usually speedy
Onno Claessens. The mud seemed to slow him down. The referee showed Grilled's
Seytek Djekshenkulov the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 40 minutes into the game,
Gil Levin almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. The Grilled free kick 42 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But there was an idea to it - the misdirected ball was turned into a cross towards
Abdul bin Jantan, who was waiting for it in the box. That's 1 - 0! 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
Canepa's
Gil Levin got himself booked for a foul. With 60 minutes played, the Canepa coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
Marcelo Giso came on,
Miguel Ayala had to leave the fray. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Canepa's
Onno Claessens was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 67 minutes.
Marc Dempsey was given a chance to change things around. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Grilled scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
Chow Ying Lee after 81 minutes. As
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) was substituted 82 minutes into the game, he could take comfort in the fact that his team was in the lead.
Slavcho Tzonkov was the replacement. Given a free kick close to the byline, Canepa tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
Alexander Stanishev slip through on goal. No hesitation - and it's 2 - 1, 83 minutes into the game. The visitors refused to give up and, after 86 minutes,
Bóris Carviçais scored the tying goal as he finished off a perfect pass from the right. 2 - 2 87 minutes into the game, Grilled had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to
solid. Grilled took the lead 87 minutes into the game by 3 to 2, as
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim. However,
Paolo Iten made a disastrous appearance. Most important Canepa player was
Lalo Capmany.
Marcelo Giso turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
