Changi 1 - 1 Grilled
ercast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 43932 at Changi Genius Arena today.
Xaver Umlauft was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Nick Enebo and
Wolter Korschenbroich. Changi started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Sapir - 京颐 (Jingyi), Cevaal, bin Zainal - bin Hussain, Cabrito, 泽荣 (Zerong) , Salinas Mila, Steinheimer - Sangue, Rusanu.
Grilled had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation. Lineup: Stacey - 俊桂 (Jungui), Madaini - Iten, bin Jantan, 尊文 (Zunwen) , 长春 (Changchun), Djekshenkulov - bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang) , Ying Lee.
Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle. 21 minutes into the game,
Chow Ying Lee had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide.
Dror Sapir looked great 29 minutes into the match after stopping a shot by the visitors'
Paolo Iten. Changi created a good opportunity to score 30 minutes into the match when
Élton Sangue's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Many thought
Élton Sangue ought to have been awarded a penalty 33 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
Dexter Stacey after a determined run through the middle. 0 - 1 was the score with 36 minutes played, after Grilled's
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 51 percent of possession.
Changi put pressure on the visitors' central defence 47 minutes into the game, but
Élton Sangue couldn't find an opening.
于 (Yu) 京颐 (Jingyi) received the short corner, knocked it on to
Megat Amir Faisal bin Zainal who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post. The bench was restless, and with 55 minutes passed Changi's coach gave
Per Nessholt the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
Aizal bin Hussain reluctantly left the field. Changi was now without a captain, so it was left to
Per Nessholt to take the captain's armband. As the game started to slip away for Changi, the manager decided to change the tactical approach.
Élton Sangue pulled a real crowd pleaser as he, after 66 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. Changi's
Jadilson Cabrito was shown a yellow card after 76 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
Élton Sangue performed admirably for Changi.
Leon Steinheimer was a disappointment, however. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim.
Paolo Iten turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 1.
