Batavia 2 - 2 Grilled

had rained all day, but 51050 hardy fans still made it out to Pacific Place. Roberto Hoz was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jack Daniels and Grigore Munteanu. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Batavia. The following players took the field: Falkenhusen - Szlendak, Maase - Chlebicki, 弘强 (Hongqiang) , Gueydan, Mjelde, Chirciu - 福庆 (Fuqing), Cesário, Zeppegno.

Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Stacey - Tzonkov, Lefébure, Madaini - Iten, bin Jantan, 尊文 (Zunwen) , 长春 (Changchun), Djekshenkulov - bin Mohd Kassim, 勇航 (Yonghang).

Grilled had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 5 minutes in when 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) came up alone against Eugen Falkenhusen who managed a block. 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) of Grilled displayed some of his fantastic technical abilities when he brought the ball down neatly using his instep before nutmegging the bewildered Florian Gueydan and smashing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to make it 0 - 1. Grilled mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 20 minutes, but Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim was unable to convert from short range. After 21 minutes, Grilled's 卢 (lu) 尊文 (Zunwen) burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 2. By now, the players in Grilled felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. At 32 minutes into the game, Batavia's Vasco Cesário deftly knocked the ball home after an impressive run down the left, reducing the visitors' lead to 1 - 2. After 37 minutes Batavia's Edilio Zeppegno contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game. Clearly in no rush to get back to the Xmas tv on offer this year... Grilled came close to extending their lead as 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 38 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. This half belonged to Batavia, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

50 minutes into the game, Ingo Maase came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar. The home crowd cheered when, after 69 minutes, Seytek Djekshenkulov's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. The crowd was on its feet 78 minutes into the match, as Batavia's Igor Szlendak found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 2 - 2 equaliser. There wasn't much opportunity for rapid movements on this wet day, which hindered 何 (He) 福庆 (Fuqing) in particular. Many thought Ingo Maase ought to have been awarded a penalty 83 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Dexter Stacey after a determined run through the middle. Grilled's Seytek Djekshenkulov got himself booked for a foul. Batavia made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left Torgeir Mjelde completely alone with keeper Dexter Stacey, who made a spectacular block. Batavia claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

Batavia's top performer was clearly Vasco Cesário. Cyryl Chlebicki on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim. Yvan Lefébure was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 2.
