newbies 2 - 4 Grilled
ouds darkened the skies at the newbies ground as 37238 spectators turned up for the match.
Monckton Murdak was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Tapani Parhiala and
Patrik Pettersson. The derby had been the talk of
Jurong all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. newbies started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Lineup: Kian Eng - bin Nan, Leong Qiang, bin Salim - 偌添 (Ruotian), Woon Lee, bin Durum, Ho Yi, 豪平 (Haoping) - 弘鑫 (Hongxin) , bin Che Rusli.
Grilled tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Stacey - Madaini, 俊桂 (Jungui) - Back, Pujolràs, Fonseca, Lefébure, Dorogan - bin Mohd Kassim, Bögengang, Ying Lee.
Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. newbies's
Roshadi bin Che Rusli got himself booked for a foul. After a fine move down the middle
Mohd Shahril Nizam bin Salim nearly gave the home side a goal after 19 minutes. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Grilled had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 37 minutes in when
Chow Ying Lee came up alone against
Sim Kian Eng who managed a block. With 38 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as
Roshadi bin Che Rusli flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. After 43 minutes, newbies's
Mohd Sofi bin Nan fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. 1 - 0 was the score after the first half. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 51 percent possession of the ball.
Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Grilled's
林 (Lin) 俊桂 (Jungui) was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 46 minutes.
Anders Josefsson was given a chance to change things around. The crowd was silenced 71 minutes into the match as the visiting team's
Gleb Dorogan came in from the left, levelling the score to 1 - 1.
Erik Back's speed was clear to see after 76 minutes as he darted past his marker and struck an opening pass to
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim who scored the 1-2 goal. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 82 minutes, newbies did not go for a direct shot but instead aimed for the area just in front of the keeper. The attacking players made several runs as the ball was played and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with the defender,
Mohd Shahril Nizam bin Salim could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 2 - 2, and proof that it can pay off to come prepared. 83 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Qassem Madaini gave
Edvaldo Mourão a quick hug as he left the field. The visiting
Yvan Lefébure was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 85 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 2 - 3 was the score. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for team Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle to get them on. Grilled's
Domenik Bögengang received a play slashing through the home side's central defence after 88 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 2 - 4 goal. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. Grilled's
Anders Josefsson made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 89 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender sprang up, clearing the ball on the line. Grilled was determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. The home crowd cheered when, after 89 minutes,
Domenik Bögengang's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 55 percent of possession.
Roshadi bin Che Rusli performed admirably for newbies. On the other hand,
Sim Kian Eng's play was disheartening. Most important Grilled player was
Domenik Bögengang.
Edvaldo Mourão was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 4.
