HOCKHAI almost scored after a counterattack 10 minutes into the match, but 范 (Fan) 楚峰 (Chufeng) took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. HOCKHAI had to make a substitution after 26 minutes. Aw Tian Kian limped off the field and was replaced by Woo An Hao. The game had been on for 27 minutes when 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) broke through on the right, upping the score for Grilled to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay. An indecisive 'keeper looked on as a free kick by Grilled's Yvan Lefébure put the visitors up 0 - 3 after 29 minutes. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's Safri bin Mohamad a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 35 minutes into the game. 范 (Fan) 宝相 (Baoxiang) was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so HOCKHAI's Toh Chu Da had to come off the bench. 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 4. 0 - 4 was the halftime score. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 82 percent of the time.

A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from Anders Josefsson after 47 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal. A thrilling play through the middle 74 minutes into the match gave Grilled's Björn Olsson a chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 5. The Grilled free kick 82 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But there was an idea to it - the misdirected ball was turned into a cross towards 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) , who was waiting for it in the box. That's 0 - 6! At this point, it was obvious that the players of Grilled lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Grilled's 范 (Fan) 修宇 (Xiuyu) got himself booked. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 82 percent possession of the ball.

HOCKHAI's top performer was clearly Toh Chu Da. However, Ng Tong Su made a disastrous appearance. 田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand, Björn Olsson's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 6.
