BDSMFC clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Grilled used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. The goal to make it 1 - 1 was scored by Lee Siong Nie after 34 minutes, following an opportunistic counterattack down the middle by BDSMFC. Zubir Mat Aris was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from BDSMFC's defence 44 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 2 - 1. Grilled's Kyou-Chull Kim was shown a yellow card after 44 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for team Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle to get them on. Grilled levelled the score after 44 minutes to make it 2 - 2, as Yvan Lefébure struck home after a fine midfield combination through the middle, leaving him completely unmarked. 2 - 2 was the score after the first half. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 77 percent of possession.

Wira bin Mahmood stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving BDSMFC the goal to make it 3 - 2. Grilled had to manage with a reduced squad after 72 minutes, as Erik Back got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, Wang Kwang Liang of BDSMFC spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. Lee Kian Chun of BDSMFC was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. Players in team Grilled heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Coming through the middle Domenik Bögengang almost scored the equaliser for Grilled after 76 minutes, but Teo Keng Wan made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. Wang Kwang Liang of BDSMFC received a yellow card after 77 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 80 minutes into the match, Grilled's Chow Ying Lee demonstrated his famed speed as he raced past his marker and passed the ball to Domenik Bögengang who chipped it in for 3 - 3. 84 minutes in, BDSMFC's Wira bin Mahmood received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. BDSMFC was able to draw a foul with their counterattacks, but the shot from Giancarlo Palma went into the arms of the keeper. Down the middle came Domenik Bögengang, making a fantastic play that nearly had Grilled take the lead after 88 minutes, but Teo Keng Wan preserved the tie. BDSMFC's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing Lee Kian Chun to score easily from the right flank for 4 - 3. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 74 percent possession of the ball.
