Grilled 4 - 0 CCP
189 fans braved the pouring rain at The Cooking Pot.
Michele Di Iorio was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Guillaume Garraud and
Owen Hodgson. Grilled tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination. They fielded: Dias Paes - Crkvenjakov, 俊桂 (Jungui) - Back, Kim, Pujolràs, Lefébure, Dorogan - bin Mohd Kassim, Bögengang, Ying Lee.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for CCP. The following players took the field: Vollaers - Schmidt, Barilari - Daday, Chang De, bin Abu Bakar, bin Mamud, Aik Leng - Bottino, Sans, bin Yusop.
Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. CCP saw most attack opportunities on the wings. Against a lesser team, Grilled could very well have succeeded with their smart indirect free kick combination after 23 minutes. A trio of passes took the ball all the way past the defenders, but by then the intended recipient was already blocked off and the keeper could make a leisurely save.
Vukota Crkvenjakov's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal up the middle after 27 minutes gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead. The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like
Marc Pujolràs. Players in team Grilled heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Cheers filled the stadium as
Vukota Crkvenjakov broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the 2 - 0 goal for Grilled. With 39 minutes played,
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. It was 2 - 0 at the break. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 54 percent possession of the ball.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Grilled coach let
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) replace
Domenik Bögengang after 46 minutes. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 55 minutes,
Anders Josefsson came on for
Kyou-Chull Kim. 55 minutes in, CCP appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only
inadequate.
Gleb Dorogan seems to have an uncanny ability to make unusual plays, unfortunately for his Grilled his shot went just wide this time. 77 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Yvan Lefébure dashed through, knocking home 3 - 0 for Grilled. Confident in their lead, Grilled's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed CCP's
Quirze Sans a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 82 minutes into the game. The defenders were clearly outwitted by Grilled after 87 minutes. The disciplined free kick combination shifted the ball quickly to one side of the box, then back to the other.
Erik Back appeared on cue near the post, and steered it past the goalie. 4 - 0. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 61 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim. However,
田 (Tian) 勇航 (Yonghang) made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating CCP player was without a doubt
Wong Chang De.
Bernie Vollaers was a disappointment, however. The match ends 4 - 0.
