CCP 2 - 3 Grilled
rk skies made the crowd of 63308 at See Mee Lan Park a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Nebojša Počuča was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Stig Riis and
Ambrosio Miranda. A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for CCP. The following players took the field: Vollaers - Spadavecchia, Schmidt, Barilari, Visky - Daday, bin Mamud, Chang De, 偌林 (Ruolin) , Aik Leng - bin Yusop.
Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players had been chosen: Dias Paes - Crkvenjakov, Behr, Mausisa - Back, Kim, Lefébure, Dorogan - bin Mohd Kassim, Bögengang, Ying Lee.
CCP clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle. CCP took the lead after 23 minutes, as a result of
Medárd Visky's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0.
Chow Ying Lee's speed was clear to see after 25 minutes as he darted past his marker and struck an opening pass to
Domenik Bögengang who scored the 1-1 goal. Grilled's
Yvan Lefébure could have put the guests one up after 28 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
Bernie Vollaers was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. CCP's
Wong Chang De was shown a yellow card after 35 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Due to a severely mistimed tackle,
Vukota Crkvenjakov of Grilled spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 52 percent possession of the ball.
1 - 2 was the score with 59 minutes played, after Grilled's
Chow Ying Lee cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 60 minutes,
Niculae Stanca came on for
Vukota Crkvenjakov. With 62 minutes played, CCP's
Damian Gustavo Barilari found an opening in the visitors' left side defence, but his shot was handled easily by the keeper. One of many good passes from
Deng Aik Leng at the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by
Haji bin Yusop, scoring the 2 - 2 goal for CCP. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 74 minutes, Grilled did not go for a direct shot but instead aimed for the area just in front of the keeper. The attacking players made several runs as the ball was played and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with the defender,
Erik Back could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 2 - 3, and proof that it can pay off to come prepared. CCP's
Medárd Visky almost tied things up with 75 minutes played after breaking through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post. Always quick on his feet, Grilled's
Chow Ying Lee sped down the field after 77 minutes, but his pass to
Domenik Bögengang was just a bit too far ahead for him to get a good shot off.
Zulharisan bin Mamud of CCP received a yellow card after 83 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
Most important CCP player was
仇 (Qiu) 偌林 (Ruolin) .
Bernie Vollaers turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Domenik Bögengang.
Niculae Stanca was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 3.
