Eagles 3 - 3 Grilled
scorching day at Eagle's Panaroma, where 54279 spectators were in place for today's match.
Fabrice Guesdon was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Maurizio Stevanato and
Tomas van der Meer. Eagles decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Starters: Pickart - Donici, 世洲 (Shizhou), Yun Sze - Schuch, Morand, bin Ramli, Liang Long, Saad - Meštrović, Koinig.
A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. They fielded: Silvera - Crkvenjakov, Behr, Talib - Penati, Branbilla, Han Kok, Dorogan - Rotteveel, Bögengang, bin Mohd Kassim.
Eagles seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Grilled clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. 8 minutes into the game,
Matthias Branbilla had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. 9 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. Scorer for Eagles was
Subri bin Ramli. With 17 minutes played, the excellent ball from the wing by Grilled's
Ciro Penati reached
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 1 - 1. Eagles had a chance to take the lead on
Eike Koinig's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled away as his shot went just over the bar after 18 minutes. Eagles had a good oppurtunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for team Eagles, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle to get them on. It was 1 - 1 at the break. The game was a stalemate so far, with possession split evenly between the teams.
Ciro Penati found it hard to catch his breath today in the stifling heat. 1 - 2 was the score with 57 minutes played, after Grilled's
Domenik Bögengang cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal.
Pero Meštrović made a superb strike after 63 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. 72 minutes into the game,
Pero Meštrović came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar. With 79 minutes having been played, Eagles's
Eike Koinig made a rush down the left, leaving him free to put the 2 - 2 equaliser away. The referee showed Grilled's
Mohd Safri bin Mohd Kassim the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Eagles were forced to a substitution as
Faizal Saad couldn't continue playing due to the rough treatment, forcing
符 (Fu) 荣锦 (Rongjin) to come in from the sidelines. Grilled's
Domenik Bögengang managed to lose the defenders as he came down the right side and scored, putting the visitors ahead, 2 - 3.
Soh Yun Sze's free kick after 88 minutes should have scored for Eagles, but the visitors' keeper just managed to get a hand on it. A scuffle developed as players from both sides clashed following a tussle in the centre of the field 88 minutes into the match. After regaining order and consulting his linesman, the referee called Grilled's
Nawaz Talib to one side and produced a red card for the player. 88 minutes into the match,
Ronny Behr came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Eagles was determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
Pero Meštrović pulled a real crowd pleaser as he, after 89 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 3 - 3 equaliser away. No one team arose to dominate this half, ending in a deadlock.
Eagles's top performer was clearly
Eike Koinig. However,
刘 (Liu) 世洲 (Shizhou) made a disastrous appearance. Most important Grilled player was
Domenik Bögengang.
Alvaro Silvera turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 3.
