Grilled 0 - 0 Strawhats
rk skies made the crowd of 54378 at The Cooking Pot a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Sjeng Bingen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Oswaldo Costa and
Bernardo Sáenz de Tejada. Grilled decided to use a 3-4-3 set up. Lineup: Dias Paes - rva, Behr, Talib - Penati, Branbilla, Han Kok, MacKinnon - Rotteveel, Bgengang, bin Mohd Kassim.
Strawhats had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: van der Berken - Ovando, Matias, Leonhard - Spatafora, vereng, Pinto, Alexandre, bin Ismail - Pavelka, Chun Min.
Grilled clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Strawhats were relying on their ability to counter-attack. Strawhats's
Gordan Pavelka could have put the guests one up after 14 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
Valdir Dias Paes was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. The referee showed Grilled's
Nawaz Talib the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Strawhats were forced to a substitution as
Ang Chun Min couldn't continue playing due to the rough treatment, forcing
Zainol Abidin bin Yusoff to come in from the sidelines. At 32 minutes played,
Ronny Behr came in from the right with the intention of giving Grilled the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Strawhats, with an impressive 55 percent possession of the ball.
Strawhats's
Gordan Pavelka got himself booked for a foul. The Grilled player who had to be helped off the pitch, was
Ronny Behr as he was unable to finish the game.
Lim Chuan Heng came in to finish the match.
Christian Leonhard knocked the corner to
Gordan Pavelka who had the whole net open before him, but his attempt hit the post. The guests almost went up by a goal after 81 minutes when
Mal Alexandre came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though.
Valdir Dias Paes looked great 82 minutes into the match after stopping a shot by the visitors'
Zainol Abidin bin Yusoff. Strawhats enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Valdir Dias Paes.
Lim Chuan Heng on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Gordan Pavelka performed admirably for Strawhats.
Zainol Abidin bin Yusoff was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 0.
