Kingsland 1 - 0 Grilled
ear skies welcomed the 4012 spectators who had made their way to Bernabeu Gardens.
Claude Cattin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Thomas-Werner Schimpfermann and
Ələkbər Məlikzadə. Kingsland started off with a 5-4-1 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Hubbuck - Butcher, Howorth, Coe, Law, Thomson - Harvey, Liard, Isakov, Bulbeck - Hautamäki.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. Lineup: Bao-Tam - Mirchev, Behr, Árva, 顺国 (Shunguo) - 剑勇 (Jianyong) , Branbilla, MacKinnon, bin Mustapa - Salieri, 力海 (Lihai) .
We may never know what
李 (Li) 顺国 (Shunguo) was thinking when he tried to pass the ball through a crowd of opponents. Luckily for him, Kingsland's
Alan Harvey somehow missed the wide open net.
Leroy Coe suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing, when a counterattack by Kingsland caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. It was 0 - 0 at the break. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Grilled, with an impressive 67 percent possession of the ball.
Grilled's
Badrul Afzan bin Mustapa was shown a yellow card after 85 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Kingsland were forced to a substitution as
Leroy Coe couldn't continue playing due to the rough treatment, forcing
Miguel Argüeso to come in from the sidelines. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 66 percent of possession.
Not having decided a winner at the end of regulation, the match went into extra time. Kingsland took the lead 99 minutes into the match after a magnificent free kick by
Vern Butcher that made the score 1 - 0. With that Kingsland had won the game in extra time.
The most dominating Kingsland player was without a doubt
Miguel Argüeso.
Julius Hubbuck on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's best player was
Matthias Branbilla. On the other hand,
Hang Bao-Tam's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 0.
