ACS 2 - 6 Grilled
brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 67500 to ACS Arena.
Gerardo Orefice was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Torbjörn Persson and
Franck Carrère. ACS had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Danciu - Sze-Wai, Gräf, Ngobe - Brinkmann, Il-Seok, bin Che Ahmad, Jacobsson, Fogelgård - Yeow-Yong, Jiménez Asensio.
Grilled started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Harlow - Alcántara, Bona, Tuan-Mu - Dai-Lin, Stanton, Spirig, Rottman, Noor Yadah - Hjortlind, Martinsson.
Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. 3 minutes into the game, Grilled's
Asher Stanton surprised the visitors with a raking cross-field pass to
Aznan Noor Yadah who easily found the back of the net, bringing the score to 0 - 1. The visitors'
Ola Martinsson took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs 8 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Grilled.
Ola Martinsson was, after 11 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but home side's keeper
Andrei Danciu made the save. ACS's fans were urging them forward as they tried to get back into the game, and their vocal support was rewarded 20 minutes into the match as
Sa Yeow-Yong ran onto a beautiful ball played through the visitors' defence and slotted it past the keeper to reduce the deficit. 1 - 2. The away team's
Ma Dai-Lin took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 34 minutes which increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 3.
Ola Martinsson increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 1 - 4. The referee showed Grilled's
Dani Spirig the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Grilled had to make a substitution after 41 minutes.
Lan Tuan-Mu limped off the field and was replaced by
Nui Pakpao. 1 - 4 was the halftime score. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, ACS's
Espen Brinkmann got himself booked. The visitors'
Asher Stanton took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs 65 minutes into the match. 1 - 5 for Grilled. After this, Grilled lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Grilled's
Nui Pakpao got himself booked. A marvellous ACS effort on the right-hand side resulted in a goal after 75 minutes by
Sa Yeow-Yong, making the score 2 - 5.
Safri bin Che Ahmad of ACS received a yellow card after 82 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Grilled's
Ulf Hjortlind received a play slashing through the home side's central defense after 86 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 2 - 6 goal. The home crowd was not pleased with that one.
Aznan Noor Yadah came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over
Andrei Danciu and it was a little too high and hit the bar. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 62 percent of possession.
ACS's best player was
Lin Il-Seok.
Eddie Fogelgård on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Asher Stanton.
Nui Pakpao on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 2 - 6.
