Grilled 0 - 1 Gitariai
e crowd of 1558 turning up at The Cooking Pot today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Tolga Duran was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Daniel Dahlblom and
Axel Lelkes. Grilled had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players had been chosen: Bao-Tam - Seng-Huat, bin Che Lah, Pakpao, Siu-Cheung - Fernández Riviera, Rottman, Paullin, Siu-Yue, Kolesov - Stern.
Gitariai started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Oelsnitz - Klenkins, Bastiaens, Akstinas - Karalius, AnuleviÄius, Reisonas, Svoldgaard, BirÅ¡tonas - Penders, Žilinskas.
Gitariai saw most attack opportunities on the wings. Grilled made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
Lorenz Paullin completely alone with keeper
Clemens Oelsnitz, who made a spectacular block.
Paul Svoldgaard of Gitariai received a yellow card after 25 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Always quick and a menace to his opponents,
Joe Stern was very close to getting through after 27 minutes, but
Afrikans Klenkins managed to avert the attack. 30 minutes into the game, a swerving free kick by
Joe Stern almost resulted in the home team taking the lead, but the shot glanced harmlessly off the frame of the goal. After a fine move down the middle
Lorenz Paullin nearly gave the home side a goal after 39 minutes. The finishing shot went just wide, though. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 70 percent of possession.
With 53 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
Paul Svoldgaard put the ball away for 0 - 1. The referee showed Gitariai's
Tauras Reisonas the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The player down was
Antonio Fernández Riviera. The Grilled bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up. After 67 minutes,
Lorenz Paullin got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. 72 minutes into the game, Grilled seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
passable level of organization.
Gailenis Akstinas had a hard time on the water infested pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight this day.
Lorenz Paullin made a superb strike after 78 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors' defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. With 81 minutes having been played, Gitariai's
Paul Svoldgaard had to leave the pitch after receiving his second booking. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 86 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Au-Yong Siu-Yue.
Kau Siu-Cheung on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Gitariai player was without a doubt
Gilles Bastiaens.
Gerko Penders on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 1.
