Grilled 3 - 2 BDU
e crowd of 4057 turning up at The Cooking Pot today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Glenn Ragnarsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alfredo Motz and
Patrik Olofsson. Grilled tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Dias Paes - 剑勇 (Jianyong) , Ãrva, Talib - å·åŸŽ (Chuancheng) , Branbilla, MacKinnon, Han Kok, è¾¾è£ (Darong) - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
BDU had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. Starters: Galarce - Turatto, Poletti, Machnes, Lang - Eriksson, Waleveld, Linck, Szélesi, Keng Yong - MarjaÅ¡iÄevas.
Grilled displayed their ability to play creatively. It was a bad day for the usually speedy
Sarafimas MarjaÅ¡iÄevas. The mud seemed to slow him down. With 20 minutes played
John MacKinnon almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide.
Carlos MarÃa Poletti had a grin on his face as he raced down the field, almost oblivious to the rain. Grilled took the lead after 25 minutes, as a result of
Subri bin Ku Zainol's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, BDU's
Aloisius Linck got himself booked.
Daniele Turatto made a good effort at breaking through on the right, but the home team's left defence cleared the ball to a corner. Grilled's
Nawaz Talib got himself booked for a foul. Grilled's
John MacKinnon had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 35 minutes having been played.
Ivaylo Mirchev was the replacement. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. BDU enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.
The visitors refused to give up and, after 54 minutes,
Carlos MarÃa Poletti scored the tying 1 - 1 goal as he finished off a perfect pass from the right.
Tomas Eriksson had a difficult time on the field; the muddy surface was clearly affecting his technique. Intentions were certainly good, but the Grilled indirect free kick combination after 59 minutes was easily anticipated by the defenders. That was a textbook example of how to defend a free kick - the attackers were left with few viable options. BDU's
Sarafimas MarjaÅ¡iÄevas managed to lose the defenders as he came down the right side and scored, putting the visitors ahead, 1 - 2. After 70 minutes,
Subri bin Ku Zainol made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 2 - 2. This half belonged to BDU, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of overtime followed.
Ivaylo Mirchev's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal up the middle after 95 minutes gave Grilled the 3 - 2 lead. Extra time over, Grilled were the victors!
Grilled's best player was
Valdir Dias Paes.
胡 (Hu) 剑勇 (Jianyong) on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Romke Waleveld performed admirably for BDU.
Lin Keng Yong turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
