Coast 1 - 6 Grilled
brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 68000 to West Coast FC Arena.
Jordi Boogert was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Lorenzo Gencarelli and
Håkan Larsson. Coast had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Soon-Hoong - Sönmez, Yuh-Sheng, Forsland - Chi-Trung, Ze-Dong, Cruz, Rocha, Andreasson - Ehnlius, Vulpe.
Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Harlow - Alcántara, Tuan-Mu, bin Che Lah - Kolesov, Paullin, Stanton, Ju-Hau, Fernández Riviera - Stern, Martinsson.
Lin Yuh-Sheng got left behind when Grilled's
Joe Stern made a sudden pull forward after 4 minutes, finishing off with a swift strike. 0 - 1! The game had been on for 9 minutes when
Joe Stern broke through on the right, upping the score for Grilled to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay. The structure of the game started to change as Grilled decided to pull back and meet their opponents in their own half. A header from
Zhan Ju-Hau connected with a corner kick after 26 minutes, and the ball ended up with
Lorenz Paullin of Grilled who shot home the 0-3 goal.
Zhan Ju-Hau could have put his team up another goal 28 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. 33 minutes into the game,
Lan Chi-Trung had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
Mikey Dowdy. After 34 minutes
Joe Stern made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to
Ola Martinsson who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 0 - 4.
Ola Martinsson came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over
Fei Soon-Hoong and it was a little too high and hit the bar. 0 - 4 was the halftime score. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 65 percent of possession.
Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Lorenz Paullin delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 64 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Coast reduced the lead to 1 - 4 with 67 minutes on the clock when
Niklas Ehnlius got the best of a ball floated in from the left. 68 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. Grilled's
Joe Stern received a play slashing through the home side's central defense after 70 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 1 - 5 goal. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. This third goal made a hat trick for
Joe Stern. As
Lan Tuan-Mu had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Grilled player a red card without batting an eyelid. With 80 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 1 - 6 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Zhan Ju-Hau. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 64 percent of possession.
Most important Coast player was
Richard Andreasson. However,
Pat Cruz made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Asher Stanton.
Antonio Fernández Riviera on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 6.
