Shining 3 - 1 Grilled
e crowd of 45172 turning up at Blackout Arena today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Alessandro Martines was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Marcos Pavia Marques and
Konrad Sachsendorff. Shining started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Ping Hung - Mora, Canning, Albicker - Huf, Easley, Khong Hai, Jacobs, Bubolz - Zagawa, Rogez.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Grilled. The following players had been chosen: Dias Paes - Árva, Lik-Tsun, Talib - Penati, Branbilla, MacKinnon, Spirig, Han Kok - Rotteveel, bin Ku Zainol.
Erik Easley had a difficult time on the field; the muddy surface was clearly affecting his technique. With 22 minutes played
Rüdiger Bubolz almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. Shining's
Hijmen Huf got himself booked for a foul.
Rüdiger Bubolz did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. Shining took the lead after 33 minutes, as a result of
Armel Rogez's awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right. 1 - 0.
Hijmen Huf increased Shining's lead to 2 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Shining held the ball, with a clear 61 percent of possession.
The home side's
Jerry Jacobs came close to extending the lead 46 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
Valdir Dias Paes managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. In a rapid move 51 minutes into the match,
Hijmen Huf of Shining lost his man, passed the ball to the unmarked
Armel Rogez who easily hit it home for the 3-0 goal. The home side's
Dougie Canning came close to extending the lead 55 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
Valdir Dias Paes managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Grilled fought on and, after 80 minutes,
Matthias Branbilla was able to reply with the 3 - 1 goal after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip. With 83 minutes played,
Armel Rogez could have brought this one home for Shining as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. Shining claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.
Peng Ping Hung performed admirably for Shining.
Dougie Canning was a disappointment, however. Grilled's best player was
Valdir Dias Paes. However,
Ciro Penati made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 1.
