Grilled 0 - 3 Rollin'
was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 96000 that came out to The Cooking Pot.
Peter Torborn was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Thierry Cheret and
Niels Skovfoged. The derby had been the talk of
West all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. Grilled started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. Lineup: Dias Paes - Zywczyn, Lik-Tsun, Árva, Talib - Edmond, Branbilla, MacKinnon, Han Kok, Spirig - Rotteveel.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Rollin'. Starters: Wei-Ming - bin Fadzim, bin Udi, bin Ahmad Mokshinon - Khumalo, Wallner, Batista, Min Fu, bin Saleh - Hiekka, Vedeckis.
The wings were the focus of most of Grilled's attacks on this day. After 19 minutes Grilled's
Valdir Dias Paes had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony.
Hang Bao-Tam came in to replace him. After 20 minutes, following yet another great corner,
Robson Khumalo knocked the ball to the limit of
João Carlos Batista's reach, who just couldn't put it in the net. After 22 minutes, Rollin''s
Iskandar Zulkernain bin Ahmad Mokshinon made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. The game had been on for 28 minutes when
Zainuddin bin Fadzim broke through on the right, upping the score for Rollin' to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
Usually a powerful player on the field,
Sandy Edmond looked kind of pale and tired under the hot sun. Clever play that showed his experience gave
Sandy Edmond a good chance to score, but the shot hit the crossbar. After 62 minutes,
Zoltán Árva had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Grilled with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar.
Deng Wei-Ming increased Rollin''s lead to 0 - 3 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner. By now, Rollin' were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. Grilled held the ball, with a clear 53 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Matthias Branbilla.
Hang Bao-Tam turned in a dismal performance, however. Rollin''s best player was
Deng Wei-Ming.
Ahmad Tharmini bin Saleh was a disappointment, however. The match ends 0 - 3.
