Revolution 0 - 6 Grilled

had rained all day, but 3356 hardy fans still made it out to Revolution Rockers Arena. Peter Asher was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Yaron Mordechai and Panu Karkamo. Revolution tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. They fielded: Kamel - Bany Yaseen, Piconese, Greber - da Pozzo, El-Far, Ajlouni, Habashneh - El-Masri, Puczyłowski, El-Wazani.

Grilled had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Bao-Tam - bin Che Lah, Seng-Huat, Fredgård - Chuan Jing, Jie Siong, Swee Pheng, Abd Hamid, Ødegaard - bin Yaacob, Hjortlind.

The strategy for Revolution on this day was to use their ability to press. After 3 minutes, Grilled put themselves up by 0 - 1, as Allan Ødegaard finished off a strike from the left with a real cannon placed at the far post. A thrilling play through the middle 14 minutes into the match gave Grilled's Mohd Firdaus bin Yaacob a chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Revolution's Najjar Awad Bany Yaseen got himself booked. 31 minutes into the game, Revolution seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organization. Revolution pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a stalemate at times. 33 minutes in, Revolution appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only poor. The home crowd was not impressed when Ulf Hjortlind came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 35 minutes. Grilled were now up 0 - 3. By now, Grilled were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. It was 0 - 3 at the break. Grilled claimed to be the more dominant force in the game, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 80 percent.

During the break, Revolution's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to passable organization. The visitors' Bukhari Abd Hamid took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and central backs 58 minutes into the match. 0 - 4 for Grilled. A thrilling play through the middle 62 minutes into the match gave Grilled's Qiu Swee Pheng a chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 5. 64 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 6 as Lee Jie Siong finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. 65 minutes into the game, Revolution had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to weak. Some things can only be learned through experience, and Weng Seng-Huat should take his lesson to heart after nearly giving Revolution a goal with 73 minutes of the match played. Allan Ødegaard of Grilled received a yellow card after 77 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Grilled came close to extending their lead as Qiu Swee Pheng delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 86 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 80 percent of the time.

Revolution's top performer was clearly Najjar Awad Bany Yaseen. Szymon Puczyłowski on the other hand, had a terrible day. Grilled's top performer was clearly Anders Fredgård. Weng Seng-Huat turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 6.
