Herron clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Pressing was the tactic of the day for Grilled. The pressing tactics used by Grilled were successful at containing their opponents. Herron's
Nie Yong-chul left the field after 17 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
Odilon Machadinha. Herron took the lead 35 minutes into the game by 1 to 0, as
Richard Ashton elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. After 36 minutes,
Marnix Westerhof put Herron ahead 2 - 0 when he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Herron's
Anders Eriksson a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 40 minutes into the game. The Grilled player who had to be helped off the pitch, was
Hidde van Liere as he was unable to finish the game.
Allan Ødegaard came in to finish the match. The home side's
Marnix Westerhof came close to extending the lead 43 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Many in the crowd felt the referee was being too lenient when he only showed Grilled's
Anders Fredgård a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 44 minutes into the game. The home team's fans were upset when, after 45 minutes, the visiting
Allan Ødegaard broke through the central defence and kicked the ball past the keeper. 2 - 1 was the score. 2 - 1 was the score after the first half. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Herron, with an impressive 55 percent possession of the ball.
Herron's
Niclas Ulfsson saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 52 minutes. After an industrious effort down the middle,
Odilon Machadinha could have closed the game off after 70 minutes, but his finishing shot hit the post. 76 minutes into the match,
Chen Haupai could have extended the lead, but his very hard free kick went just over the bar. 78 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Florian Jähnisch dashed through, knocking home 3 - 1 for Herron. The home side's
Chen Haupai curled a free kick home after 82 minutes, putting Herron ahead 4 - 1. Grilled's
Allan Ødegaard was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 83 minutes. Herron held the ball, with a clear 54 percent of possession.
Herron's best player was
Abd Rauf Mohd Nadzir. On the other hand,
Odilon Machadinha's play was disheartening. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Ahmed Abed-Sulaiman.
Allan Ødegaard turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 4 - 1.
