Herron clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Herron caught their opponents out with a clever counterattack down the right wing 22 minutes into the match. Shu Chit-Fu was able to finish off the move - 0 - 1. Grilled showed their counterattack skill 32 minutes into the match, with Dani Spirig scoring uncontested for 1 - 1. A counterattack by Herron after 35 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but Nie Yong-chul, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. Grilled's Dani Spirig startled Lee Jie Siong with an unexpected pass. Unfortunately, the receiver was too stunned by the play to convert the perfect setup into a goal. The visitors grabbed the lead after Chen Haupai's free kick succeeded, resulting in a score of 1 - 2. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

Nie Yong-chul's technique was perfect on this sunny day and led to some amazing plays that fooled the defence. After 66 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Barthélémy Boulant who increased Herron's lead to 1 - 3. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when Sylweriusz Zywczyn, after a brilliant midfield combination through the middle, reduced the lead to 2 - 3. Herron's Kjell Askenbrant received a play slashing through the home side's central defense after 72 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 2 - 4 goal. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. At this point in the game, defending their lead became the main priority for Herron. This half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

Grilled's best player was Hidde van Liere. Lee Jie Siong on the other hand, had a terrible day. Herron's top performer was clearly Abd Rauf Mohd Nadzir. Chen Haupai turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 4.
