Myvatn 2 - 4 Grilled

The spectators at the stadium today were in for an afternoon of sunshine. It was a very hot day and some players suffered from this, especially those relying on tough physical play or a lot of fast runs. For the technical ones, on the other hand, this was ideal conditions. Lineup: Rawie - Kuloğlu, Meraj, Dores - Davis, Tomás, Navarro, Coyro, Chirizzi - Montes, Fußer.

Starters: Germanakos - Himadas, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Kwang Tse, Keng Chuan, Teck Fu, Chitre - Thach, An Keng, Khairul.

Red Star Club Myvatn trundled out to the pitch in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Myvatn's game plan was to sit back and absorb the pressure, then use their brilliant (11) ability to break on the counter whenever possible. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 4 minutes on the clock after Dwight Davis's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Myvatn player a yellow card though. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 30 minutes into the match, and Gandhik Chitre wasn't about to waste it. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. Raúl Himadas could have added one to the visitors' lead if his free kick had gone just a little lower. Esteban Montes was first to reach a long ball launched through the center from Myvatn's defense 38 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the keeper to make the score 1 - 1. Myvatn's Antonio Chirizzi was shown a yellow card after 39 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 41 minutes, Grilled's Hwang Teck Fu made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 1 - 2. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! The home fans looked somber as they watched their team give up another goal, this one coming from their right as Lim An Keng put one through the keeper's legs. 1 - 3 after 52 minutes. Just a few inches to the right, and the visitors could have had a goal in minute 53. Raúl Himadas was overheard by some in the stands blaming either Grebulon or sunspots, depending on their individual loyalties. A thrilling play through the middle after 60 minutes gave Grilled's Aw Keng Chuan a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 1 - 4. After the ball was lifted in from the left, Lim An Keng was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 61 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. Myvatn caught their opponents out with a clever counter-attack down the right wing 62 minutes into the game. Esteban Montes was there to finish off the move - 2 - 4! As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Gandhik Chitre reluctantly made way for Paulino Trindade. With the clock showing 89 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Aw Keng Chuan looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Damian Hutter, though he would have liked to continue. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Raúl Himadas gave Radovan Jaška a quick hug as he left the field. With Raúl Himadas no longer on the field, Radovan Jaška was the new set pieces taker. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Dwight Davis knew he was in trouble after hacking down an opponent. Despite his pleading with the referee, the Myvatn player was shown a second yellow card and dismissed from the game. The match ends 2 - 4. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 64 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

Myvatn's top performer was clearly Esteban Montes. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Bilal Meraj seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Grilled's best player was Mohd Marzuki Khairul. I can't remember Radovan Jaška ever having a worse night than he just had.
