Grilled 3 - 5 Ano

The clouds were hanging menacingly over the stadium today. They fielded: Law - Himadas, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Thach, Khairul, Teck Fu, Trindade - Kwang Tse, An Keng, Chitre.

Starters: Dovier - Węglicki, Cuéllar, Pashin - Majkowski, Oleszko, Smirčić, Put, Oleniacz - Baanabakintu, Walenta.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 3-5-2. Grilled used their divine (+8) (28) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. Tadeusz Węglicki was well positioned to man mark Lim An Keng, and was able to take the edge off the Grilled player's game. Ano's Henryk Majkowski managed to lose the defenders as he burst through the right side and scored, putting the visitors ahead, 0 - 1. A couple of hard elbows 25 minutes in resulted in a penalty being awarded to the home team and Raúl Himadas put the ball into the back of the net without any difficulty. That tied the score up at 1 - 1. Ano took the lead 29 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle. Mieczysław Walenta was the scorer. Grilled put pressure on the visitors' central defense with 31 minutes played, but Mohd Marzuki Khairul couldn't find an opening. Brian 'Was Born' Reddy made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle with 32 minutes played. Chia Kwang Tse went to the air and hit the ball firmly with his forehead for Grilled. 2 - 2. Ano had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 34 minutes in when Mieczysław Walenta found himself alone with Cameron Law who managed a block. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 35 minutes into the match, and Łukasz Put wasn't about to waste it. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 2 - 3 for the visitors. Łukasz Put was, after 37 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the center, but the home side's keeper Cameron Law made the save. 2 - 3 was the halftime score. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Beep Boop tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. After 49 minutes of play, Gandhik Chitre evened things up for Grilled with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 3 - 3. As the 65 minute mark approached, the Ano manager decided it was time for a substitution. Mieczysław Walenta reluctantly made way for Òscar Vaquer. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 65 minutes, Ano tried a variation that they had practiced in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper, however, the defense were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. 70 minutes into the game, Ano wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Ruslan Pashin gave Jack Etienne a quick hug as he left the field. As the captain was no longer on the field, Zbigniew Oleniacz took over the role for Ano. With the match clock reading 72 minutes, the inexperienced Ano team fell into disarray. The bleachers were silenced after 76 minutes when Ano's Toma Smirčić put the guests ahead 3 - 4, following an attack on the right. After 80 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Walenty Oleszko who increased Ano's lead to 3 - 5. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 3 - 5. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Chia Kwang Tse. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Cameron Law today. Ano's best player was Òscar Vaquer. Speaking of stinking up the place, Tadeusz Węglicki sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
