As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 2-5-3 formation today. Grilled clearly preferred using their divine (+8) (28) ability to attack in the middle today. Though it was beautiful soccer, the home crowd did not enjoy
Dan-Radu Şoancă's goal after a run down the left with 1 minutes on the clock. Politehnica lead, 0 - 1. With a shot lofted in from just outside the penalty area 2 minutes in,
Lim An Keng of Grilled evened the score to 1 - 1.
Dinis António Barreira managed to make an excellent pass from the wing, but
Fabian Lacchini was not as skillful and couldn't finish it off. After 30 minutes cheers broke out as
Chad Thach found his way through the guests' central defensive line, rattling the 2 - 1 goal in off the woodwork for Grilled. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul should probably have put his team up another goal after 33 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
Patrick Michel kept the visitors in the game.
Chia Kwang Tse increased Grilled's lead to 3 - 1, connecting with a hooked ball from the right. The away fans are claiming handball, to no avail. Cheers filled the stadium as
Mohd Marzuki Khairul broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 4 - 1 goal for Grilled. 4 - 1 was the score after the first half. Looks like our neighborhood Nostradamus was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 57 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Grilled solidified their lead at the 58 minute mark, as
Mohd Marzuki Khairul snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 5 - 1. Politehnica never say die, and though it wasn't a pretty goal,
Vasile Vizureanu offered the visiting fans a glimmer of hope after 76 minutes. That makes it 5 - 2. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Aw Keng Chuan off.
Damian Hutter took his place. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 89 minutes on the clock after
Sergey Varin's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Politehnica player a yellow card though. The match ends 5 - 2. Let's go to Bluesky to see what the fans think of the game so far! says The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt
Lim An Keng. Good thing
Dimitris Germanakos isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Politehnica's best player was
Mihai Rusea. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Patrick Michel sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
