Grilled 7 - 2 Québec
Clear skies welcomed the spectators who had made their way to the stadium today. The following players had been selected:
Germanakos -
Keng Chuan,
其材 (Qicai) -
Reddy,
Thach,
Kwang Tse,
Teck Fu,
Trindade -
Chitre,
An Keng,
Khairul.
The following players took the field:
Eggerschwiler -
Gross,
Endres -
Brice,
Large,
Gupta,
Hagen,
Guerini -
Farmani,
Bârcă,
Abashin.
As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 2-5-3 formation today. After 10 minutes cheers broke out as
Chad Thach found his way through the guests' central defensive line, rattling the 1 - 0 goal in off the woodwork for Grilled. Grilled's
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy sent an early cross that saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
Gandhik Chitre was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless netminder to make the score 2 - 0. Québec's
Dan-Alexandru Bârcă made use of his speed to get free of his marker, but he still couldn't get a shot off after 14 minutes. Grilled added another goal to their lead as
Mohd Marzuki Khairul struck home for 3 - 0 after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper.
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) could have put Grilled up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 21 minutes. 26 minutes into the game, Grilled's
Brian 'Was Born' Reddy popped up out of nowhere, stole the ball and showed off his fantastic goal scoring skills. 4 - 0.
Gandhik Chitre gave Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 5 - 0 after 32 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with.
Lim An Keng was not content with his team's lead, and tried to extend it 34 minutes into the game after a nice run through the middle, but his shot went wide. Grilled's
Paulino Trindade was delighted to score as he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing keeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing. 6 - 0 after 38 minutes. 6 - 0 was the halftime score. Looks like our neighborhood Nostradamus was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 55 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their player
Ruslan Abashin scored to make it 6 - 1 after 53 minutes, following a good pass from the right. Québec never say die, and though it wasn't a pretty goal,
Ruslan Abashin offered the visiting fans a glimmer of hope after 55 minutes. That makes it 6 - 2. 65 minutes into the game, Québec wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Francisco Gross gave
Thomas Girard a quick hug as he left the field. As
Francisco Gross left the field, the coach signaled to
Thomas Girard to start taking the set pieces that occurred. With the clock showing 67 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Valentino Endres looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Oinatz Zabaldika, though he would have liked to continue. 68 minutes had passed when Grilled put themselves up 7 - 2 after the visiting defenders lost the ball to
Lim An Keng, who came up from the left and proceeded to easily go around the goalkeeper and knock the ball home. Grilled's
Lim An Keng saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates 78 minutes in. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 4 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 7 - 2. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Beep Boop tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt
Lim An Keng. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Dimitris Germanakos today. Québec's top performer was clearly
Klemens Gupta. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Saidy Eggerschwiler sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
