Grilled 6 - 0 Fregene
The spectators didn't look too happy about the constant raining at the stadium today. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. Starters:

Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Alba Fregene, the formation of choice was a 2-5-1. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (+9) (29) ability to great effect. It was an obvious ambition of Fregene to play a wide game with their titanic (15) ability to attack down the wings. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
Lim An Keng's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 11 following a run up the middle gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead. After 14 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Fregene found themselves out of position and their organization level dropped to passable (6). The visitors almost came back with an equalizer 22 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but
Gioacchino Marsala didn't get enough power behind the attempted finish to seriously challenge the keeper. Fregene got a chance to level the scores in minute 30 as
Stefano Radice suddenly found himself free with only the keeper to beat, but the finish hit the bar. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle instead. Things were going from bad to worse for the visitors.
Hwang Teck Fu was able to squirm through the central defense after 36 minutes and score, bringing the lead to 2 - 0. 39 minutes in, Fregene appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only weak (4). It was 2 - 0 at the break. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! Fregene's coach had to raise his voice a little, but he also managed to raise his players' organization to solid (7) after reviewing his strategy. Cheers filled the stadium as
Lim An Keng broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 3 - 0 goal for Grilled. 67 minutes into the game, Fregene had difficulty finding their positions and their organization dropped to weak (4). As the 70 minute mark approached, the Fregene manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Antonio Calbini reluctantly made way for
Vanni Nota. With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Umberto Bertaccini looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Nunzio Di Lello, though he would have liked to continue. Grilled's
Mohd Marzuki Khairul was delighted to score as he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing keeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing. 4 - 0 after 70 minutes. 76 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as
Hwang Teck Fu ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 5 - 0 for Grilled. 79 minutes into the game, Fregene seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor (3) level of organization.
Chia Kwang Tse gave Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 0 after 84 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Grilled's
夏 (Ha) 其材 (Qicai) had an excellent opportunity 89 minutes in, shooting after bringing down a ball from the right, but he missed the goal by miles! After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Fregene's
Stefano Radice finally got himself booked for a foul. The match ends 6 - 0. Let's go to Bluesky to see what the fans think of the game so far! says
Lim An Keng performed admirably for Grilled. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Dimitris Germanakos today. The most outstanding Fregene player was without a doubt
Angelo Taccone. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Bill Vincent sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
