SLC 7 - 0 Grilled

Weather conditions were pretty good for football today. They fielded: Palácios - Maze, Emith, Cissé - Mebratu, Nkosi, Mbangweta, Mukwena, Chungu - Manda, Mawathe.

Lineup: Germanakos - Kang Leong, 其材 (Qicai) - Reddy, Thach, Keng Chuan, Kwang Tse, Teck Fu - Chitre, Khairul, An Keng.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their divine (+8) (28) ability to great effect. Alfred Cissé's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 7 following a run up the middle gave SLC the 1 - 0 lead. Cheers filled the stadium as Mangani Mbangweta broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 2 - 0 goal for SLC. Hwang Teck Fu managed to make an excellent pass from the wing, but Lim An Keng was not as skillful and couldn't finish it off. Things were going from bad to worse for the visitors. Peter Mukwena was able to squirm through the central defense after 25 minutes and score, bringing the lead to 3 - 0. 3 - 0 was the halftime score. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased SLC's lead to 4 - 0 as Moses Chungu finished it off clinically, firing the shot from a terrible angle. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Damian Hutter came on for Hong Kang Leong. As Hong Kang Leong left the field, the coach signaled to Aw Keng Chuan to be the new set pieces taker. Grilled's Hwang Teck Fu set up a perfect opportunity for Lim An Keng, but the latter failed to score. SLC solidified their lead at the 73 minute mark, as Steven Mawathe snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 5 - 0. 80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Hwang Teck Fu gave Paulino Trindade a quick hug as he left the field. Mohd Marzuki Khairul had a good opportunity to reply with a break through the middle, but the home team's goalkeeper Jesus Palácios just wouldn't be beat. 85 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as Moses Chungu ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 6 - 0 for SLC. With the clock showing 89 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Gandhik Chitre looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Chan Ze Han, though he would have liked to continue. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in SLC's Moses Chungu bringing the lead up to 7 - 0. That made three goals for Moses Chungu. He'll be taking the match ball home with him having scored a hattrick! The match ends 7 - 0. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that SLC would have 52 percent possession in this half was spot on!

The most outstanding SLC player was without a doubt Harward Manda. Good thing Samuel Maze isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Most important Grilled player was Mohd Marzuki Khairul. Speaking of stinking up the place, Dimitris Germanakos sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
